Conserving our natural and cultural heritage
Perhaps our region's greatest asset is its landscape. The rolling green hills, vineyards and cellar-lined streets all require conservation. We are working to raise awareness and taking action to preserve the traditional Weinviertel (cultural) landscape. This also involves finding new, low-impact uses for the cellar-lined streets. We are also very keen to promote cultural icons in the region and make the people of the eastern Weinviertel proud of their region.
Developing natural space
The unique landscape of the Weinviertel is characterised by rolling hills and basins. The nature provides a special habitat for a diverse range of species. The floodplains along the March and Thaya rivers and the Leiser Berge natural park are just two of the many nature conservation hotspots in the region. Maintaining the traditional Weinviertel landscape while working on innovative development and boosting tourism is one of the key goals pursued by the LEADER Region Weinviertel Ost.
Breathing life into the cellar-lined streets
Cellar-lined streets form part of our cultural heritage and help shape the landscape of the Weinviertel region. We require many innovative projects designed to preserve and carefully (re)utilize these precious cultural gems to ensure they are still around for future generations to enjoy.
Cultural diversity
Traditions, customers, associations and language – Weinviertel culture has developed over the course of history and continues to shape how people think to this day. This makes it all the more important that old traditions are preserved and maintained. To make sure nothing gets lost to time, we are in need of projects to revitalise Weinviertel culture and help it grow.
My.Weinviertel
Strengthening regional identity is a crucial objective that affects all regional development work in the eastern Weinviertel and therefore all spheres of action. We have decided to focus on raising regional awareness, sharing information on the Weinviertel and defining a clear identify for the region. All aspects of our strategy are involved in this endeavour.
