Social space analysis Laa/Thaya

In the municipality of Laa an der Thaya, the group of young people between the ages of 12 and 23 makes up around 10% of the total resident population, who work in heterogeneous and sometimes anonymous groups. That is why the municipality of Laa an der Thaya set itself the goal of installing professional youth work. The creation of a social space analysis was seen as the foundation for this work, in order to be able to focus on the relevant topics for further projects.

 

On behalf of the municipality of Laa an der Thaya, YOU.BEST - Mobile Youth Work carried out the recording of the corresponding social space from March to July 2019. The general needs of young people between the ages of 12 and 23 were surveyed.

 

Based on all survey data, both strengths and weaknesses - related to young people - could be listed in the municipality. Despite the 2020 corona pandemic, the sustainability of the social space analysis project is evident in the many specific projects that have resulted from the findings of the social space analysis and which have already been implemented by the municipality of Laa. There is an ongoing mobile youth work by the TENDER Association with a supervised contact point for young people on Burgplatz. The desire for publicly accessible sports offers was fulfilled several times. And the municipal council of the municipality of Laa has already decided in a fundamental decision to create a supervised youth center, e.g. in the former train station magazine.
