"Kauf Regional" measures to strengthen the regional economy in Wolkersdorf

With the ‘Kauf Regional’ project, the municipality of Wolkersdorf im Weinviertel has created a modern digital platform that sustainably strengthens the regional economy and community. The introduction of the Cities app offers businesses and consumers a comprehensive customer loyalty and bonus system that keeps purchasing power in the region and raises awareness of the importance of local purchases.

Thanks to this initiative, impetus has been provided against the outflow of purchasing power and the decline of businesses in local centres. At the same time, it promotes the revitalisation of the town centre and contributes to the reduction of individual shopping traffic by enabling short distances to regional suppliers.

At the end of December 2024, 82 businesses and associations from Wolkersdorf were represented in the app, which is actively used by 1,760 people. A total of 1.4 million euros in purchasing power was tied up - a clear sign of the project's acceptance and effectiveness.

‘Kauf Regional’ is a prime example of how digital solutions can promote the regional economy and strengthen the sense of community. Wolkersdorf shows how future-orientated approaches can combine economic and social benefits.
