Old, typical Weinviertel recipes rediscover

Old, typical Weinviertel recipes have often been forgotten or there is a lack of general knowledge about them among the population. With the involvement of older generations in the recipe retrieval, the recipes were prepared together with the seminar farmers of the LEADER Region Weinviertel Ost and made available to the population in various forms.

During visits to care facilities in the LEADER Region Weinviertel Ost, the people living there were asked about old, typical Weinviertel dishes. This resulted in the book “Aufkochen”, which not only depicts typical Weinviertel dishes but also life in the eastern Weinviertel with its traditions and customs. The Weinviertel seminar farmers prepared and cooked the recipes. The historian Wolfgang Galler provided the technical know-how for the book.

In addition to the book, the dishes were prepared in the form of short videos in a “tasty style” (https://www.kostbares-weinviertel.at/produzenten-suche/kurzvideos/). The videos are available online on the LEADER Region Weinviertel Ost YouTube channel and are used on social media. In this way, different target groups are reached and the recipes that have been recovered are made accessible.

The basic aim of this project is to rediscover old, typical Weinviertel recipes, to prepare them and to preserve them for the population and the next generations.
