Social area analysis of the area around Laa
How do young people feel in the municipalities of the Land um Laa region – and what do they need to feel heard, supported, and connected? These questions were at the heart of the social space analysis, which focused on adolescents and young adults aged 12 to 23. The aim was to make their lived realities visible and to provide municipalities with a solid foundation for developing youth-oriented measures.
In addition to statistical data, the project primarily relied on direct input from young people and experts. Surveys were conducted in everyday youth environments such as schools, youth centres or via local associations. The results were evaluated individually for each municipality and clearly show that young people are looking for meeting spaces, stronger participation opportunities, and initiatives that genuinely reflect their interests.
As a result, municipalities now know where to take targeted action to improve the quality of life for young people. At the same time, the project created a sense of being seen and involved among the youth – supported, for example, by the inclusion of youth representatives in the process. This involvement has the potential to strengthen young people’s connection to their home region and, in the long term, to counteract outward migration.
A particularly sustainable effect of the project is the increased networking of local stakeholders who are now more actively engaging with youth issues. These newly formed structures provide a foundation for ongoing collaboration with young people and pave the way for a forward-looking regional development.
