Pillichsdorf Master Plan – Neighbourhood Development in the Town Centre

Pillichsdorf is struggling with vacancy, urban sprawl, and the loss of uses close to the town center. The project aims to make better use of existing buildings – both private and public – and make the town center more attractive. In addition to vacant residential and commercial buildings, the temporarily unused public building stock is also being examined. The population, the municipality, the parish, associations, and other stakeholders are being involved in an open planning process to develop a sustainable 15-year strategy. The goal is to revitalize the town center through better combinations of uses, densification, and climate-friendly open space design. Traffic calming, unsealing, and new green spaces are intended to enhance the townscape and make living and working in the town center more attractive again. Cooperation with neighboring municipalities and the adaptation of the infrastructure will contribute to reducing vacancy in the long term and preserving the town's structure.
